Privacy Policy

fold ("we", "us") is a no-code email builder with cross-client preview, operated at usefold.co and app.usefold.co. This policy describes what we collect, why, and what we do with it, in plain language, because privacy policies don't have to be unreadable.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account: your email address, display name, and authentication credentials. When you join the waitlist: your email address and which form you used.

Your content. The emails you design (their structure, text, images and themes), along with render screenshots our preview engine produces from them. Your content is yours. We store it to provide the product and for no other purpose.

Usage and technical data. We use PostHog for product analytics (which features are used, roughly where and on what kind of device) and Sentry for error reporting. This may include IP address, browser and device information, and in-app events.

Payment information. Billing is handled by Polar, our merchant of record. We never see or store your card details. We receive only your subscription status.

How we use it

• To provide, maintain and improve the product
• To render previews and store the resulting screenshots for you
• To send transactional email via Amazon SES: test sends you trigger to your own inbox, review-feedback notifications, and waitlist invites
• To respond when you contact us
• To meet legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't send marketing email to product users beyond what you explicitly signed up for.

When you create a review link, anyone with the URL can see that email's preview screenshots, its name, and the comments reviewers leave, but never your source HTML or account details. Links expire automatically and you can revoke them early. Reviewer names are whatever the reviewer types. No account is created for them.

Where it lives

Data is stored with our infrastructure providers: Convex (database and files), Cloudflare (hosting and image storage), AWS (email delivery), and Fly.io (render workers). Each processes data only as needed to provide their service to us.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Delete your account from settings and your documents, renders and personal information are removed from our systems. Residual copies in encrypted backups age out on their own schedule. Waitlist emails are kept until you're invited or ask to be removed.

Your choices

You can export your emails as HTML at any time, delete individual documents or your whole account, and unsubscribe from any non-transactional email with one click. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. Email us and we'll honor them.
